NEIGHBOURHOOD CAFÉ

Updated: Sep 20, 2021

As you may have seen in the recent Church newsletter, the Neighbourhood Cafe successfully reopened on 18th July.

We do hope you can come along and join us to enjoy our delicious cakes, tea or coffee and some convivial company. Weather permitting we will try to have a couple of tables outside for those who would prefer, but rest assured that we will arrange the inside tables to ensure a suitably comfortable environment for all. Being summer (?) we should also be able to have all windows and doors open.

The committee have decided to slightly revise the format going forward we will only be open on the 3rd Sunday of each month – these dates for 2021 are:

Sunday:

15 August

19 September

17 October

21 November

19 December

As our “regulars” will also know, sadly Maurice and Sue Lee have stepped down as hosts for the Cafe, and whilst Norman and June Hamilton have agreed to try to follow in their footsteps, this leaves us with no “backup” for setting up and clearing down. We wonder therefore if anyone would be willing to give us half an hour before opening time to set up tables, move chairs and get the kitchen ready and also help behind the counter. We know that many of you have busy lives, so rather than ask people to turn up “ad hoc” we think it will be sensible to draw up a rota thereby making any commitment you make as minimal as possible for the remaining 6 months of 2021. If you are willing to help, could reply to us giving the dates you are able to offer and in what capacity (tables, chairs, serving) we can let everyone know when they will be asked to chip in and (if we get enough people) we can also have a reserve list in case anyone finds they are unexpectedly committed elsewhere.

Going forward, we plan to have a “suggestion box” for charities which may be dear to you and we will use this as a basis for our choices.
