Hail Weston Wildlife and Gardening Group

The Hail Weston Wildlife and Gardening Group offers a varied programme including:  presentations on gardening and wildlife related topics and visits to places of gardening, horticultural, wildlife and conservation interest.

At the October AGM previous members will be invited to re-join and any newcomers who are interested in joining for the first time will also be welcome. Unless otherwise stated events cost £1 for members and £3 for non-members Tea/Coffee/glass of wine/biscuits are available at meetings for a voluntary donation.

If you wish to become a member, be added to our email list or have any queries, please contact HWWGG@yahoo .com.  Changing Covid restrictions may require us to alter the programme and any changes will be communicated by email in advance of the date.  All face to face events will be arranged in a covid-safe way with details forwarded prior to each event.


 Programme, 2022

Tuesday, 1 Feb, Village Hall 7pm.  Animal Experience - Mitch Price, An hours talk and hands on with a variety of animals including owls, meerkat, pygmy hedgehog, sugar glider and chinchilla. Children over 8 welcome.

Tuesday, 1 March, Village HallNature Friendly Farming Martin Lines farms in Cambridgeshire and has a passion for the preservation for the countryside. He champions a way of sustainable farming that is good for nature and is part of the Nature Friendly Farming Network and is chair of the UK steering group. RAFFLE

Tuesday, 5 April, Village Hall, Burghley House Gardens, Joe Whitehead/Head Gardener.

Talk about Joe’s background and his role in maintaining and developing the gardens which were originally designed largely by Capability Brown.  RAFFLE.

Tuesday, 3 May, Guided walk in Brampton Wood, Brampton Wood is a haven for nature and we will be escorted by experts, learning about the conservation work within this very beautiful site

June (TBC), Garden Safari and Plant Sale, Our traditional fun and sociable evening of touring a number of beautiful and contrasting Hail Weston Gardens. Tickets, including refreshment. A selection of beautiful plants for sale. 


Tuesday, 5 July, Traditional Garden Flower Names, Twigs Way An illustrated talk that meets our desire to re-engage with our floral heritage and landscape.  RAFFLE.

Tuesday, 2 August, National Garden Scheme visit, Tempsford An enchanting, wildlife friendly garden with lots of interesting and unusual plants with different areas to explore. Cost TBC.

Tuesday, 6 September, Summer Social Join us for a Summer Social evening with something tasty to eat and drink.

Tuesday, 4 October, Winter Colour, Geoff Hodge, Beating the winter blues with garden colour and AGM. 

Tuesday, 1 November, Hampton Court Palace Gardens, Andrew Sankey, We will hear about the 500-year-old gardens which include 60 acres of spectacular formal gardens

Tuesday, 6 December, Festive evening. RAFFLE.
